Vnukovo introduces the first in Eastern Europe slot-coordination system

views 69

Vnukovo International Airport has completed the development and testing of WEB-Portal — a unique digital product for slot coordination and flight schedule generation.

The «WEB-Portal» project is a further development of the «AviaBit-Airport» information system, which is successfully used at Vnukovo to interact with airlines for slot coordination. Thanks to the developed solution, airlines can conveniently select slots (time intervals of aircraft ground service) without the involvement of airport services.

The new functionality allows airlines to manage slots independently, while the coordination process is automated. This provides airlines with a complete picture of the available «windows» in the airport’s operations when they are drawing up flight plans for the coming seasons and/or when it is necessary to adjust the plans already drawn up. The system also automatically reserves the necessary airport resources for the new task — from the required number of check-in counters to the optimal aircraft parking position.

For airlines, WEB-Portal provides a visual representation of the workload of airport services at different times, efficient planning of schedules and aircraft service plans, and a drastic reduction of time needed to coordinate slots at the airport (from days/hours to minutes). For the airport it means optimization of resources, as well as improving the quality of services provided to airlines and, ultimately, to passengers.

It should be noted that the WEB-Portal project has no analogues in Russia and CIS countries. Similar systems are used in airports in the USA, EU and UAE. And now also in Vnukovo International Airport.

Vnukovo International Airport is one of the largest air transportation hubs in Russia, handling about 200 thousand flights of Russian and foreign carriers every year. The airport’s route network covers the entire territory of Russia, as well as countries around the world. In 2019, Vnukovo International Airport broke a historical record and served more than 24 million passengers. The airport complex with a total area of about 300 thousand square meters has a capacity of up to 35 million passengers per year. Vnukovo International Airport, as the only one among the airports in Russia, has received the gratitude of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin for work achievements and high results in professional activities. In addition, Vnukovo Airport has been recognized as the best airport in the highest category «International Airport» of the national award «Air Gates of Russia» (part of the National Aviation Infrastructure Show, NAIS) for three years in a row.
